How does the synchronization between Notion and Google Calendar work?
Premium beta connects through the official Google Calendar API and creates a dedicated calendar for the selected Notion database. Notion changes are written directly to Google instead of waiting for Google to poll an iCal URL. The Free plan still supports a private iCal subscription.
Do I need to install any additional applications?
No. Connect Notion and Google from your browser to use direct sync in Premium beta. Google permission is limited to calendars created by this app. The Free iCal option uses a subscription URL and needs no Google account authorization.
What happens if I delete an event in Notion?
With direct sync, the mapped event is removed from the dedicated Google calendar during reconciliation. With an iCal subscription, it disappears the next time Google refreshes the feed.
Do edits in Google Calendar update Notion?
Not during the current beta. Google changes are observed for safety and reliability analysis, but they never write to Notion. Edit the source page in Notion for now.
Should I keep my old Google iCal subscription?
Keep it while you verify the new dedicated calendar. Once both show the same events, remove the old iCal subscription to avoid duplicates.
